Motu Chandra Roy amassed the amount from the allowances he received from the government and by selling a calf he was rearing up
Motu Chandra Roy, a physically-challenged man from Dinajpur's Khansama upazila, has set an example by donating Tk 10,500 to the government relief fund to help handicapped people.
Motu Roy amassed the amount from the allowances he received from the government and by selling a calf he was rearing up. On Friday noon, he handed over the amount to Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahbub-ul-Alam, according to UNB.
Motu, a resident of Nolbari village of the upazila, is a bicycle mechanic by profession.
He said he wants to stand beside those who are going through a tough time amid the coronavirus outbreak.
"Many working-class people are now facing dire situation due to the shutdown. I've inspired to make the donation after seeing others coming forward for the noble cause," he told UNB.
He said he took the step after learning that the UNO is receiving donations for the relief fund. "This is a small contribution from me," he added.
UNO Mahbub-ul-Alam highly appreciated Motu's donation.
"He set an example for other," he added.
