A man has confessed to killing his 18-month-old child to frame his rival before a court in Chandraganj, Lakshmipur.
The father, Fayez Ahmed Monu, 45, confessed to his crimes before the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday afternoon.
Fayez had been in a dispute over land with his neighbour Motin and planned to kill his child to frame his rival, said Fayez in his statement.
On May 5, around 12pm while the child, Rahima, was playing alone, he took the toddler to a deserted place and strangulated her to death, said Fayez while explaining the horrific incident.
After her death, he buried her body behind a nearby bush and came back to his house pretending to search for Rahima.
He also filed a case with Chandrganj police station on the same day to make sure he remains out of suspicion.
"As police got involved in the search, Fayez then transferred his daughter's dead-body to his house’s septic tank and informed us that he found the dead-body on May 8," said OC Jasim Uddin of Chandraganj police station.
“As his behaviour was suspicious, Superintendent of Police Dr AHM Kamruzzaman directed us to question Fayez in custody and finally we were able to solve the complex case," said the OC, explaining the incident.
“After his confession, we presented him before the court to record his statement on Monday and sent him to jail," added the official.
