Police recovered the body of an executive engineer of Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) on Tuesday morning from Beribadh area under Turag police station.
The deceased, identified as Delwar Hossain is the executive engineer of Konabari zone of the city corporation.
Turag police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nurul Muttakin confirmed the matter.
Golam Kibria, chief accountant of GCC, said Delwar's mobile phone was found switched off since he left his Dhaka residence for attending office in Gazipur on Monday.
On Tuesday morning, his dead body was found at Beribadh area and it was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue, Kibria added.
Speaking on the matter, Turag police station officer-in-charge Nurul Muttakin said: " We suspect Delwar might have been strangled to death and the body bore injury marks on the back side."
