The demands include the introduction of salary allowances, rations, waive off dormitory rent and low-interest loans
Kindergarten school teachers of Sirajganj have staged a demonstration and demanded incentive packages from the government to alleviate their sufferings during the countrywide shutdown put in place in order to curb the spread of the new coronavirus.
These protesting school teachers and staff members formed a human chain to press home a four-point demand in front of the city district bus counter on Wednesday morning.
The demands include the introduction of salary allowances, rations, waive off dormitory rent and low-interest loans.
Speakers during the protest said teachers and staff members of kindergarten schools of the district are passing miserable days without incomes since over 700 kindergarten schools were shut down in Sirajganj on March 17.
Md Barkat Ullah, one of the speakers at the program, said: “Around 10,000 teachers have been put out of jobs and are suffering from without an income source.”
“98% of school authorities have become victims of the economic fallout and thus are failing to pay teachers’ salaries, rents and utility bills,” he added.
