All kinds of markets, shopping malls, business establishments have been declared shut down once again in Khulna, Tangail and Narail after the reopening after two months of lockdown.
The district authorities in these respective districts have taken the decision after most of the shoppers, shopowners were seen to defy the health directives provided to curb the coronavirus infection.
While the decision will be implemented from Thursday in Khulna and Tangail, Narail will be following the directive from Friday.
In Khulna, the district authority closely monitored the markets and as the concerned people were reluctant to maintain the health directives, the district commissioner has decided to shut down the establishment, states a public notice by the DC office.
“We made multiple teams and mobile courts to monitor the markets. The people were not maintaining social distancing protocols and it might assist the virus to spread to a larger cluster of demographic, so we took the decision,” said Khulna DC Md Helal Hossain.
Legal actions will be taken against people who will defy the directives, added the DC.
In Tangail, most of the markets were seen shut as a decision to shut down the markets was implemented from Thursday after the reopening on May 10.
Several shoppers, shop owners, vendors-- who did not know about the public notice provided by the DC office-- were seen returning to their homes after finding the markets shut.
Though the step was welcomed by most of the locals and health officials of the district, the shop owners stated their frustration over the decision and said they will face a huge loss as they already stocked up a huge amount of products to sell in this eid.
In Narail, the district commissioner’s office has decided to shut down all the markets and business establishment from Friday.
Narail’s DC Azuman Ara called out a meeting with concerned people from the administration, law enforcement and local representative and took the decision upon their approval, the DC office sources said.
