After the gunfight, RAB found Hasan shot dead. Taken to a hospital, the duty doctor declared him dead
A suspected terrorist was killed in a reported gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Tongi, Gazipur.
The deceased, Shamim Hossain alias Hasan, 30, was accused in 18 cases including murder, robbery, illegal arms, and drug dealing, RAB sources said.
“We made a drive in the Mazarbasti area around 8pm on Friday upon information that some drug dealers and outlaws were meeting at the place. Sensing our presence the outlaws started firing at us. When we retaliated, they fled the spot,” said Lt Commander Abdullah Al Mamun, camp commander of Porabari, RAB-1.
“After the gunfight, we found Hasan shot dead. Taken to a hospital the duty doctor declared him dead,” added the official.
The deceased was a top terrorist of Tongi, Banani, and Uttara. Over 18 to 20 cases were filed against him with respective police stations, RAB sources say.
RAB also recovered two pistols, eight rounds of bullets, two magazines, and 800 yaba pills from the spot.
