Coronavirus test terminated as PCR machine malfunctions in Jamalpur

Samples collected from 7 upazilas in the district were sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital laboratory

Coronavirus (Covid-19) testing has been terminated in Jamalpur's Sheikh Hasina Medical College since Wednesday after the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) machine malfunctioned there.

Engineer's who had installed the lab have been working since Thursday morning to make the machine functional again, said Dr AKM Musa, in-charge of the laboratory.

The Engineers have been maintaining contact with the German PCR machine parts manufacturing company, according to the lab sources.

Jamalpur Civil Surgeon Pronoy Kanti Das said, as the PCR lab is no longer operable, 153 samples collected from 7 upazilas in the district were sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital laboratory for tests.
