A woman was killed reportedly by her in-laws over dowry in Feni's Fulgazi upazila.
The body of Salma Akhter, 19, was found hanging in her house at Bandhua Hazi store area of the upazila on Friday.
She was the wife of Nazrul Islam, who is an autorickshaw driver by profession.
Her father Abu Taleb filed a case against the woman's husband and three others of his family at Fulgazi police station.
All of the accused are currently on the run, said the police station's officer-in-charge (OC) Kutub Uddin.
“A mark of strangulation was visible on the woman's neck. But an autopsy will be conducted to determine if its a murder or a suicide,” said OC Kutub.
According to the case statement, the woman was married to Nazrul five months ago. Her in-laws had been pressurizing the victim's family for a dowry of Tk2 lakh.
The woman’s father managed to pay Tk1 lakh in multiple installments but failed to pay the rest which led her in-laws to kill her and hang her body from the ceiling, mentions the case details.
