Former Sylhet mayor Kamran admitted to Dhaka CMH for Covid-19 treatment

Earlier on Saturday, Kamran tested positive for the deadly virus

Former Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) mayor Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, who recently tested Covid-19 positive, has been admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

He was admitted to the hospital around 8pm on Sunday, confirmed Mehedi Kabul, a man close to Kamran's family and a Jubo League leader in Sylhet.

Mehedi Kabul said Kamran's condition remained unchanged and he will be given plasma therapy at the hospital.

Previously in the evening, a special helicopter of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) brought the former Sylhet Awami League (city unit) president to the capital for better treatment.

A press release was issued in this regard by the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, Kamran tested positive for the deadly virus.

His sample report came positive in Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital on Friday, said Himangsu Lal Roy, deputy director of the hospital.

Seeking prayers for his father, Kamran’s son Dr Arman Ahmed Shiplu said that his father’s sample was collected in the morning and they received the result at night.

Earlier on May 27, his wife Asma Kamran tested coronavirus positive.

On March 19, he was accused of violating government instruction by attending different political and public events randomly, instead of staying in home quarantine for 14 days after returning from the United Kingdom.

Sources in Sylhet told Dhaka Tribune that, Kamran returned home from London on March 15, where his activists and followers, defying government issued health directives, gathered at the Osmani International Airport to greet
