Coronavirus: Sunamganj partially marked Red Zone, under lockdown from Tuesday

According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, 15 areas under eight upazilas have been brought under the 'red zone'

The local administration has put 15 areas of eight upazilas of Sunamganj district under complete lockdown from Tuesday till the next 21 days.

According to the Civil Surgeon's Office, 15 areas under eight upazilas of total 11 upazilas have been brought under the 'red zone'.

The areas which are under the red zone are: Sunamganj municipal area of Sadar upazila, Purba Pagla, Paschim Pagla and Joykalash union of Dakhshin Sunamganj, Palash union of Bishwambharpur upazila, Badaghat union of Tahirpur upazila, Sadar union of Jamalganj upazia, Banglabazar, Doarabazar Sadar, Mannargaon union of Doarabazar upazila,  Chhatak municipal, Zaua Bazar and Kalaruka union of Chhatak upazila, Jagannathpur municipal and Syedpur union of Jagannathpur upazila.

On the other hand, Purbo Birgaon Union of South Sunamganj Upazila, Sachnabazar Union of Jamalganj Upazila, Pandargaon and Narsinghpur Union of Doarabazar Upazila, Noarai Union of Chhatak Upazila and Kalkalia Union of Jagannathpur Upazila have been made yellow zone.

Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman said: “If anyone is found gathering unnecessarily in the red zone, they will be arrested immediately. There will not be any objection if anyone goes outside following hygiene rules in emergency cases.”

Meanwhile, 83 new coronavirus patients were detected in the district on Monday, taking the total number of confirmed cases to 646.
