A school teacher in Bhangura upazila of Pabna has reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself after failing to get his name in the monthly pay order (MPO) list.
The deceased identified as Mostafa Kamal, 45, was a physical education teacher of Momtaz Mostafa Ideal High School and College in the municipal area.
Bhangura police station Officer-in-Charge Masud Rana said Mostafa Kamal took his own life on Wednesday night.
Family members found him hanging from the ceiling of his room in the early hours on Thursday and informed the police. Police recovered the body in the morning.
Quoting family, police said, Mostafa Kamal had been depressed for non-inclusion of his name in the MPO scheme of the government.
A colleague of Mostafa Kamal said he was not included in the MPO scheme as he failed to show the Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) main certificate.
Abdul Hakim, the headmaster of Momtaz Mostafa Ideal High School, stated that Mostafa Kamal joined the school in 2003 since its commencement as a Lower secondary school. He moved to another school for some time and came back again in 2012.
Meanwhile, a total of seven teachers were included in the MPO scheme, but Mostafa Kamal failed to bring the main copy of his BPED certificate, he added.
