A man shot at his mother-in-law after failing to get money from his in-laws to fund a building construction project in Gazipur.
The incident took place in the city’s Islampur Haq Market area on Friday evening.
Following the incident, police arrested Lokman Hossain, 36, son of Rustom Ali of the same area.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) AKM Ahsan Habib confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.
He said: “Lokman had been demanding money and share of his father-in-law’s property for quite some time now.
“Recently, Lokman demanded money from his father-in-law to fund a building construction project he had undertaken in the area, to which his father-in-law refused.”
“On the day of the incident, Lokman went to his in-laws’ house to demand money. When his father-in-law once again refused, Lokman shot at his mother-in-law in rage.”
However, the woman was unharmed as the shot missed her, he added.
Informed, police rushed to the scene, arrested Lokman along with an unlicensed foreign pistol, three live bullets, and one bullet casing from the scene.
