The victims were on their way to work at a readymade garment factory of Palmal Group in Bhabanipur
At least four people were killed in separate road accidents in Gazipur and Lakshmipur on Saturday.
In Gazipur, two female readymade garment workers were killed and one other was injured when a speeding car hit them on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Bhabanipur area of Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identified as Santona Rani Barman, 30, of Tangail’s Madhupur upazila and Rekha Rani Barman, 32, of Gazipur Sadar upazila.
Meanwhile, the injured Maya Rani Barman, 32, has been rescued to National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) in Dhaka.
The incident took place when a Dhaka-bound car hit them while they were crossing the road around 8:30am on Saturday, said Naojor highway police outpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Fariduzzaman.
Police recovered the bodies and sent the injured to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, he said.
Police managed to seize the car in question but its driver had fled the scene.
In Lakshmipur, two truck drivers were killed and three others injured following a head-on collision between two trucks on the Raipur-Chandpur regional Highway in Chowdhury Pul area of Raipur upazila early Saturday.
The deceased could not be identified yet, reports UNB.
Tota Miah, officer-in-charge of Raipur police station, said the accident took place in the area following the collision between two vehicles, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the bodies.
