DAE deputy director in Bogra dies of COVID-19: A deputy director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Bogra died of COVID-19 at Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) yesterday morning. Md Abul Kashem Azad, from Tarash Upazila of Sirajganj, breathed his last at 11am, undergoing treatment at the hospital. Md Shahiduzzaman, additional deputy director of the DAE, confirmed the matter.

220 test positive for COVID-19 in Ctg: 220 people in Chittagong were found to be coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours, yesterday. This, after testing 1050 samples at five COVID-19 laboratories in Chittagong district. Among the newly detected patients, 162 are from Chittagong city and 58 are from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said. The total number of infected patients in Chittagong district now stands at 9,889, said civil surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi.

Tk16,000 in fines for violating COVID-19 guidelines in Khulna: Mobile courts conducted drives in different parts of Khulna city, including wards 17 and 24 declared a red zone. The mobile courts filed nine cases against different shops and business outlets, fining them around Tk 16,000 for flouting coronavirus health safety guidelines. Executive Magistrates Md. Tahmidul Islam, Debashish Basak, and SM Russell Islam Noor of Khulna district administration conducted the special mobile courts. They fined the shops, mostly saloons, departmental and cosmetics stores, and other business outlets in the last 24 hours till yesterday, 10am.

COVID-19 cases in Khulna division reach 5,342: With a 102 new Covid-19 positive cases detected in the last 24 hours till yesterday noon, the total number of COVID-19 infected patients in Khulna division reached 5,342, said a COVID-19 quarantine and isolation related daily report, reports BSS. “We received 188 samples at Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMC) and other samples in Jessore and Kushtia laboratories and 102 of those were found COVID-19 positive,” said Assistant Director (Health) of Khulna division, Dr Ferdousi Akhter.
COVID-19 cases climb to 3,354 in Rangpur division: The number of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases rose to 3,354 in Rangpur division. 218 new patients were reported in a day on Saturday from three COVID-19 Laboratories in Rangpur, Dinajpur, and Dhaka. The 218 new cases were reported after diagnosing 772 collected samples of suspected coronavirus patents from all eight districts of Rangpur division. Focal Person for COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division, Dr. ZA Siddiqui, confirmed the matter yesterday.

Physician dies of Covid-19 in Benapole: A physician died from coronavirus at a hospital in the capital on Saturday night. The deceased was identified as Dr Amjad Hossain, 60, deputy assistant medical officer (retd) and owner of Rajani Clinic in Benapole. Jessore Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Shaheen said Dr Amjad Hossain died at the ICU of Regent Hospital in Dhaka’s Mirpur on Saturday night. Dr Amjad from Benapole Bhaberber area, left behind his wife, son and daughter, and a host of relatives to mourn his death.

147 recovered, 2 died of Covid-19 in Thakurgaon: Some 16 more people have contracted coronavirus in the last 24 hours in Thakurgaon district, taking the total cases there to 225. M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital did coronavirus tests of 43 samples. So far, two people died of the virus in the district, three others died with unverified symptoms of it, and 147 people recovered from the deadly viral infection. Civil surgeon Dr Md Mahfuzur Rahman confirmed the matter yesterday afternoon.
