Three dead in clash at Jessore juvenile correction centre

Clash breaks out between two groups at the correction centre

A clash at the Juvenile Correction Centre in Jessore has left three killed in Jessore on Thursday, said officials.

The victims have been identified as Parvez Hasan Rabbi, 18, Rasel alias Sujon, 18 and Nayeem Hossain, 17, said Deputy Commissioner Md Tomizul Islam.

The clash, between two groups of inmates at the correction centre, broke out in the afternoon, according to police sources.

Around 7pm, the correction centre authorities rushed three teens to Jessore General Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared them dead, said the hospital authorities.

“The teenagers had bruises on their bodies and died soon after arrival. However, the cause of the death can be confirmed after the autopsy reports are available" Amiyo Das, a doctor at the hospital said.

Jessore's Deputy Commissioner Tamijul Islam Khan, Additional District Magistrate Abul Lais and Superintendent of Police Ashraf Hossain visited the centre after the incident

“We will form a probe committee to investigate the matter thoroughly,” said the DC.
