7 caught trying to sneak into India at Mohespur border

They were later handed over to Moheshpur police station

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained seven people, including women and children, for attempting to cross over to Indian territory illegally at the Moheshpur border in Jhenaidah, early Thursday.

The detained included Choyon Biswas, 20, Priangsha Biswas, 18, Runu Biswas, 35, Minoti Biswas, 30, Namita Roy, 32 and Sumi Akter, 25.

BGB said they were from Gopalganj and Bagerhat.

Acting on a tip-off, a BGB-58 team conducted a drive in the area and detained them while they were attempting to cross the border over into Indian territory in the early hours of Thursday, said Nazrul Islam Khan, assistant director of BGB-58.

They were later handed over to Moheshpur police station. 

A case was filed in this connection, he added.
