5 enterprises fined 22.6L for flouting DoE rules

Bengal Shoe Industry Ltd of Lakshmipur was fined Tk10 lakh for violating conditions of an environment clearance certificate

The Department of Environment (DoE) has fined five enterprises and an individual Tk22.60 lakh in total for violating environmental rules.

DoE Chittagong Regional Director Moazzam Hossain registered the fine after a hearing at his office on Monday.

Of the errant enterprises and individual, Bengal Shoe Industry Ltd of Lakshmipur was fined Tk10 lakh for violating conditions of an environment clearance certificate, Aman Ullah of Cox’s Bazar was fined Tk7 lakh for razing hills, Diamond Cement (Expansion Unit) of Chittagong was fined Tk2 lakh for polluting the air, Janani Bricks of Chandpur was fined Tk2 lakh for violating conditions of an environmental clearance certificate, RA Ship-breaking and SL Ship Reprocessing Industry Ltd of Chittagong were fined Tk1.60 lakh in total for violating conditions of their environmental clearance certificate.
