Awami League activist hacked dead in Kushtia

Hasinur Rahman, 52, a local Awami League activist and cousin of Kushtia 1 lawmaker AKM Sarwar Jahan, was hacked to death by local miscreants in Daulatpur upazila of Kushtia Saturday morning.

Hasinur came under attack by the miscreants when he was headed to the local market, hitching a ride on one Jabbar’s motorcycle around 7am, said Nishikanto Roy, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur police station.

The miscreants indiscriminately hacked Hasinur with sharp weapons leaving him dead on the spot and Jabbar critically injured, said the OC.

Locals took him to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Daulatpur police OC Nishikanto Roy said: “We primarily suspect the murder took place as a result of previous enmity. The case is under investigation. We will learn the motive of the murder after the investigation. We have detained a suspect for initial interrogation. Upon interrogation, he claims he alone carried out the attack.”
