An Awami League leader has died of injuries inflicted by his own daughter during a family feud in Natore.

The incident took place in the district’s Hatiandaha union under Singra upazila on Monday noon.

The deceased, Abdus Sattar, 65, was the president of Hatiandaha union unit Awami league.

Police have detained his daughter, Mira.

Singra police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nur-e-Alam confirmed the matter to Dhaka Tribune.

He said: “The body of the deceased has been sent to the morgue of Natore Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

“A case regarding the matter will be filed soon.”

According to local residents, Sattar’s daughter Mira, who is a mother of two, had been living with her parents since her divorce.

At noon on Monday, Sattar slapped Mira during a family quarrel.

In retaliation, the daughter hit Sattar on his back with the branch of a tree. This left the Awami League leader severely injured.

He succumbed to his injuries later. The members of the family, with the help of locals, locked up Mira in the house till the police arrived.
