The accused was reportedly in a relationship with the woman

Police on Monday night arrested a man, accused in a case filed over the gang-rape of a Tripura woman, from Kata Pahar area of Bandarban's Lama upzila.

The arrested Nurul Huda, 27, of Sarai union of the upazila, was reportedly in a relationship with the woman and raped her early on Monday with five other associates, according to a case filed by the woman in which Nurul was named the primary accused.

According to the case, the woman got into a relationship with Nurul over the phone some days ago, and promised to marry her. When she went to meet Nurul on Sunday, Nurul and five others raped her.

Lama police station Officer-in-Charge Md Mizanur Rahman said the arrestee is being interrogated and police are trying to arrest other accused people.
