Prof Dr Abu Bakr Siddique breathed his last on Saturday night
A teacher of Sylhet Agricultural University has died from Covid-19.
Prof Dr Abu Bakr Siddique, chairman of Microbiology and Immunology Department, breathed his last on Saturday night while undergoing treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital in Dhaka.
The Office of the Public Relation and Publications of the university confirmed the news of death.
The teacher joined the then Sylhet Government Veterinary College in 2000. The college was later upgraded to the agricultural university.
Also a researcher, Prof Abu Bakr carried out his duties in many responsible posts of the university until his death.
Prof Dr Md Matiar Rahman Howlader, vice chancellor of the university, expressed his profound shock and sorrow at the demise of the teacher.
He conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
The professor will be buried at his ancestral home at Mehendiganj upazila in Barisal.
