The Gazipur zonal office of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited has disconnected over 400 illegal household gas connections in different areas of Gazipur.
The Titas gas authorities, in association with the district administration, conducted the day-long drives in the metropolitan area, Chayabithi and Chayatoru areas on Wednesday.
In continuation of their regular drives after the fatal explosion in the Narayanganj mosque, which has taken 28 lives, the Titas Gas authorities have become more vigilant about avoiding this kind of accident, according to local residents.
The Deputy Manager of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited, Mirza Shahnewaj, said a team of Titas Gas Authority, Gazipur office, conducted the raid in those areas of the city and snapped more than 400 illegal connections from residential houses in the areas.
He said: “ A few local outlaws provide these illegal lines to the residents by taking a huge amount of money from them. Although most of them fled the area seeing us, we will surely take legal action against all those behind this.”
A huge amount of pipes and other materials used for the illegal gas lines were also seized.
