Autopsy equipment were stolen
Despite everyone being afraid to even go near morgues, a thief has stolen equipment from a morgue in Jhalakathi.
The morgue of Sadar Hospital, located at the Brac junction of Purbachadkathi in Jhalakathi city, was broken into Thursday night.
The thief stole various tools from the morgue. The matter came to light on Friday morning when the door of the morgue was found unlocked.
Morgue attendant Palak Dom said he went there when a body was brought to the morgue for autopsy on Friday morning.
However, as soon as he entered he saw the door ajar.
The thief stole all equipment including a weighing machine, knife and axe used for autopsy.
In this regard, Dr Abul Hasan, resident medical officer of Jhalakathi Sadar Hospital, said that the incident of theft in the morgue is surprising. Ordinary people do not enter there out of fear.
He added that a body was brought for autopsy on Friday morning.
“Now we are struggling to perform an autopsy due to lack of equipment. Legal action will be taken in this regard,” he said.
