The authorities of Gono Bishwabidyalay on Saturday dismissed its registrar Md Delower Hossain for allegedly harassing a female student sexually over phone.

A press release, signed by the university’s senior public relations officer Sharmin Sultana, was issued in this regard.
All members of the board unanimously took the decision in an emergency meeting held at Gono Shasthaya Nagar Hospital at Dhanmondi in Dhaka, said the press release.
The board chairman professor Serajul Islam Choudhury chaired the meeting, where rofessor Amirul Islam Choudhury, Hosne Ara Shahed, professor Altafunnesa, professor Dilara Choudhury and Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury and the university vice-chancellor (acting) professor Laila Parveen Banu were present.
Trustee board members Justice Abdur Rouf, Dr Salehuddin Ahmed and Tahrunnesa Abdullah attended the meeting virtually.
Serajul Islam said that they had taken cognizance of the media report over the sexual harassment of a female student and dismissed Delwar although he sought time for resignation.
This correspondent telephoned Md Delower Hossain for his comment over the matter, but he did not receive.
