The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested three drug dealers in Chittagong and recovered 265,130 pieces of contraband yaba pills.
The elite unit made the arrests by conducting two separate drives in the Bakalia area of the city and the Gohira area of Anwara Upazila on Tuesday.
Assistant Director (Media) of RAB 7 Mahmudul Hasan Mamun confirmed the matter.
Acting on a tip off, the RAB members set up a check-post at the Shah Amanat bridge area in Bakalia. At one point they signaled a truck to pull over when its movements seemed suspicious. When two its occupants attempted to flee the scene they were caught and arrested.
The arrestees were identified as Jamir Uddin, 36 and Ramjan Ali, 25.
A search was conducted on the truck and 100,000 pieces of yaba tablets were recovered from behind the driving seat.
The other drive took place at the Gohira area, with RAB 7 again being tipped off over a huge consignment of yaba pills being delivered.
They arrested one, identified as Md Kamruzzaman, 30, and recovered 165,130 pieces of yaba tablets.
