Panchagarh jail guards killed in road crash

Two district jail guards were killed in a road accident which took place in Rajli Khalpara of Sadar upazila in Panchagarh on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Mehedi Hasan Moon, 22, and Utpal Chandra Roy, 22. They were returning to Sadar from Atwari.

According to police and witnesses, Mehedi and Utpal riding on Utpal's motorcycle collided head-on with an oncoming tractor as they were overtaking a bus in Rajli Khalpara on the Atwari-Panchagarh road. They died on the spot.

Informed, Panchagarh Sadar Police and Fire Service and Civil Defence personnel arrived at the spot and recovered their bodies.

Panchagarh Sadar police Sub-Inspector Kaium Ali said the bodies have been sent to Panchagarh Modern Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
