The girl went missing on Wednesday after falling into the DND canal in the Bamoil area
The body of a teenage girl has been found in the Dhaka-Narayanganj-Demra (DND) canal, 17 hours after she went missing.
Her body was recovered by divers from the Fire Service and Civil Defense at 7am on Thursday.
Fire Service headquarter Duty Officer Ershad Hossain confirmed the matter, saying that the rescue team rushed to the scene immediately after being informed of the matter on Wednesday, but were unable to identify the exact location in the dark.
The divers resumed the search on Thursday morning and found the girl’s body soon after, he added.
The girl, identified as Akashi, 13, went missing after falling into the DND canal in the Bamoil area around 2pm on Wednesday.

“Akashi, along with her friends, went for a swim at the canal around 2pm. At one point, she drowned after going too far from the embankment and couldn’t swim back,” said Demra police station Sub-Inspector Raful Islam.
