Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained an alleged foreign currency smuggler and seized ₹400,000 (Indian Rupees) from his possession in Bishwamvarpur upazila of Sunamganj.
A team of RAB conducted a drive at Dhanpur bazar in the early hours of Friday and detained Md Alauddin, a foreign currency smuggler, reports Bangla Tribune quoting RAB sources.
According to RAB sources, Alauddin had in his possession a total of ₹400,000 in bundles of ₹2,000, ₹500 and ₹100 rupee notes. The RAB team also seized two mobile phones, three SIM cards from Alauddin after busting him inside a digital photo studio in the area.
Lt Cdr Foisal Ahmad, commander of RAB CPC 3, said: “The seized items have been handed over to Bishwamvarpur police station and the detainee has been sued under the Special Powers Act.”
