The eleventh grader was found hanging from the ceiling of his girlfriend’s grandparents’ house
Police have recovered the hanging body of a college student from Bijoynagar village of Sadar upazila, Lakshmipur.
The deceased was identified as Md Jabed Hossain, an eleventh grader at the Dalal Bazar Degree College, who was found hanging from a ceiling of his girlfriend’s grandparent’s house on Thursday, sources confirmed.
Jabed’s family members said he was romantically involved with a girl of Purba Hasondi village and the couple was planning to run away from the locality to start a family of their own.
However, as the girl’s family was against their marriage, Forhad, the girl’s brother, and his friends Rubel and Liton allegedly called him over to the place on Thursday.
Jabed’s father, Sharif Ullah, claimed that he was then beaten to death and later hanged to the ceiling to frame the murder as a suicide.
However, denying the allegations, the girl’s aunt said when Jabed arrived at the place and the girl refused to ran away with him, Jabed locked himself in the room and committed suicide out of frustration.
Contacted, Mosleh Uddin, officer-in-charge of Lakshmipur Sadar police station said: “Since we did not find any injury marks on the deceased’s body, we cannot confirm whether it is a murder or suicide.”
“We can only confirm the reason behind his death after we receive the autopsy report,” added the OC.
