Ten Santal families in financial hardship were given homes by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Khansama upazila of Dinajpur.

Sources at the upazila administration said ten Santal families received a single floor house each in order to improve their standard of life. Additionally, funds were allocated to provide education materials and scholarships to those families.

Budrai Hemrob of Dangapara village, whose family received a house, said: "My family has six members. We were living in much hardship in a hut. I am very happy to receive the house from the prime minister."

Other Santal families have also expressed similar sentiments and thanked the prime minister.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mahbub Ul Islam said, acting on the prime minister's directive that no one would be homeless, they have selected less affluent families from among Santal people in Dinajpur and made them homes from the prime minister's fund.

"They are currently living in the houses. Upazila administration will help them with any of their needs," UNO Mahboub added.
