Shibir activists allegedly cut the veins of both legs and hands of a local leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League in front of Cox’s Bazar Government College in Cox’s Bazar on Tuesday.
The victim, Sakhawat Hossain was the general secretary of Cox’s Bazar Government College Chhatra League. He is currently undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College and Hospital.
Regarding the matter, Cox’s Bazar district Chhatra League President Istiaq Ahmed Joy, said that centering around the reshuffle of Cox’s Bazar police force, a gang of shibir men led by Tareq Aziz, cut the veins of both legs and hands of Sakhawat at around 11pm in order to show muscle power.”
“Tareq Aziz is accused in many cases including a case filed under the Explosive Substances Act. We have notified police about the matter.” he added
Regarding the issue, Cox’s Bazar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masum Khan said: “I have sent police force to the scene as soon as we heard of the incident. We are trying to detain those responsible for the incident.”
