Parvin's husband Nur Islam is currently in jail
A pregnant woman died battling for life for 12 days after her husband had reportedly beaten her with a rod in Thakurgaon.
The deceased is Parvin Akhter, 24, daughter of Shafiqul Islam, of Maloncha village in Thakurgaon's Baliadangi upazila.
Parvin died at Rangpur Medical College and Hospital on Thursday after her husband broke her hands and legs, beating her with a rod on September 19, said Thakurgaon Sadar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Tanvirul Islam.
Parvin's husband Nur Islam is currently in jail.
The woman's father Shafiqul Islam initially filed an attempted murder case against Nur, which will now be changed into a murder case, said OC Tanvirul.
Dr Rakibul Islam, resident medical officer of Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital said Parvin sustained severe fractures in her hands and legs as she was beaten with a solid rod-like object.
When Parvin was hospitalized, she had said: "Nur Islam was an addict. He often got home taking drugs and would beat me. On September 19, I came back from my father's home and found him under the influence of drugs.
"When I got near him, he first began hitting me. At one point he used a padlock to lock the door from inside and broke my hands and legs with a metal rod."
