A student of East West University has died while bathing off a sea beach in Cox's Bazar.
The incident took place at Sea-In point at around 3pm on Friday, said Md Zillur Rahman, Superitendent of Cox's Bazar Tourist Police.
The deceased identified as Fatin Ittam Mahmud, 23, a third year student of Department of English of East West University, was the son of Mahmudul Hossain from Dhaka's Mirpur.
Zillur Rahman said: "A group of University students went to the Sea-In point at the beach in order to bath. At one point, Fatin went missing due to low tide in the sea."
Police resucued Fatin and rushed him to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital where duty doctors pronounced him dead, the SP said.
An Unnatural Death (UD) case was filed with the Cox's Bazar Sadar police station, the police official added.
