Tourist goes missing in Bandarban

A tourist has gone missing swimming in a canal in Nafakhum, a popular tourist spot in Thanchi upazila of Bandarban.

The incident took place at around 12:30pm on Saturday, said Thanci police station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Md Saifur Uddin Anwar.

The missing person identified as Jakarul Islam Kanon, 35, is from Dhaka’s Uttara.

Quoting locals, OC Saifur Uddin said Kanon with some of his friends was swimming in Remakri Khal (canal) in the morning. At around 12:30pm, Kanon went missing.

Informed, police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) rushed to the spot. They are currently conducting a search for Kanon, the OC added.
