Police are yet to arrest the accused Abdul Gaffar
A 26-year-old physically challenged woman has been raped allegedly by her neigbour at Amalai village under Sharsha upazila in Jessore.
The rape survivor’s husband filed a case with Sharsha police station on Friday night accusing Abdul Gaffar, 38, a neighbour, said the police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC investigation) Tarikul Islam.
However, police are yet to arrest the accused Abdul Gaffar.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune, the rape survivor’s husband said his wife went outside the room to respond to the call of nature on Thursday night. At that time, Gaffar gagged her and raped her there.
“Gaffar’s relatives threatened me not to file any case. But I along with my wife filed a case against Gaffar on Friday. We are living in fear,” said the victim’s husband.
Regarding the matter, Sharsha police station Officer-in-Charge (OC investigation) Tarikul Islam, said: “Police are currently conducting drives to arrest Abdul Gaffar.”
