Delwar Hossain, key accused in two cases filed over the gang-rape and torture of a woman in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali, has been shown arrested in both cases filed under the Pornography Control Act and Women and Child Repression Prevention Act.

PBI Inspector Mamunur Rashid Patwary, one of the two case investigation officers, produced Delwar before the Senior Judicial Magistrate’s Court at 11am Tuesday and sought his arrest in the two aforementioned cases.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Mashfiqul Haque granted the appeal and sent Delwar back to jail following the hearing.

Earlier on October 4, Rapid Action Battalion arrested Delwar with arms in Siddhirganj, Narayanganj.

Later, police interrogated Delwar for two days in remand in an Arms case filed by RAB.

On September 2, a criminal gang forced into the woman’s house, tied up her husband in the next room and tried to rape her. When she defended herself, they stripped her naked, beat her up, violated and video recorded the whole thing – which later went viral on social media on Sunday.

Subsequently, the rape survivor filed a rape case against Delwar, chief of "Delwar Bahini", and his second-in-command Abul Kalam Tuesday night at Begumganj Model police station.

Delwar had raped the woman twice on gunpoint over the last year, while Abul Kalam had attempted to rape her once, according to the case statement.
