When the girl’s family went to see their daughter, the accused’s mother tortured the girl and cut off her hair in the presence of her family
A teenage girl has reportedly been kidnapped and raped in Burichang upazila of Comilla.
The girl was also assaulted and tortured by the accused rapist’s family after her family went to see her at the accused’s house on Saturday, sources said.
Police have arrested four people for their involvement in the incident after a case was filed under the Women and Child Repression Prevention Act.
The prime accused in the case Samiul Basir, 18, reportedly kidnapped the girl with other accused Hridoy on October 12.
They took her to a house in Araiora village of Comilla’s Sadar, where Basir raped her for six days, the rape survivor’s family claimed.
On October 17, prime accused Basir took her to his home in Doyarampur village, promising to marry her.
However, when the girl’s family went there to see their daughter, accused Basir’s mother Lipi Akter beat the girl and cut off her hair in their presence.
Later, the girl’s family filed a case accusing Basir, Hridoy, Lipi and another named Rana, confirmed Mozammel Haque, officer-in-charge of Burichang police station.
“We arrested the four people in the early hours of Sunday. After presenting them before the court, it denied their bail petition and sent them to jail,” the OC added.
