Murder case plaintiff totured in Kurigram

The victim has been identified as Sheikh Farid, 23, son of Rafiqul Islam in Rowmari upazila

A man, who is the plaintiff of his father's murder case, reportedly suffered night-long torture after miscreants abducted him late Saturday night in Kurigram.

The victim has been identified as Sheikh Farid, 23, son of Rafiqul Islam in Rowmari upazila.

Sheikh Farid alleged: "On Saturday evening, I was on my way to Rowmari police station after SI Tuhin Mia, the investigation officer of my father's murder case, summoned me.

“Selim, Hasan, Shabuj Mia, Chan Mia, and Rahim Badshah ambushed me on the road and took me to a house in Rowmari village of Rowmari upazila. They tortured me there all night and at one point took my signature on a paper. Then I got myself admitted into Rowmari Upazila Health Complex.”

Moktarul Islam Selim, resident doctor at the health complex, said: "The patient (Sheikh Farid) has multiple injury marks on his body. We are providing him regular treatment."

SI Tuhin, the investigation officer of the case, said: "On the day of the incident, the youth (Sheikh Farid) informed me that he wants to meet me. I have visited him at the hospital after he was injured." However SI Tuhin denied that he called Farid to meet him.

Rowmari police station Officer-in-Charge Abu Md Dilwar Hossain Inam said steps will be taken if a complaint is lodged.
