He will be laid to rest at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Mirpur
Abul Hasnat, renowned journalist, former vice president of Chhayanaut, director of Bengal Publications, and editor of monthly Kali o Kolom magazine, passed away on Sunday morning at a hospital in Dhaka at the age of 75.
He was suffering from old-age complications and was taken to Anwer Khan Modern Medical College Hospital in the morning where he was pronounced dead at 8:05am.
"With a heavy heart, we are informing that our Hasnat sir passed away this morning," said Golam Sarwar Farouqui, manager of operations at Bengal Boi.
His body will be taken to Bengal Shilpalay at Dhanmondi in the capital from 1pm to 2pm. From there, the mortal remains will be taken to Chhayanaut.
"He will be laid to rest at the Martyred Intellectuals Graveyard in Mirpur after his namaz-e-janaza at the Baytul Aman Jame Masjid after the Asr prayers," Farouqui added.
Chhayanaut authorities and board members, including its President Sanjida Khatun, mourned Hasnat's death.
