The victim broke one of her legs, hands and also sustained injuries on her head after she was pushed off the roof of the building
Two youths, after reportedly failing to rape a teenage girl, tried to kill her by pushing her off the roof of a three-storey building in Narayanganj.
The incident occurred at the Bagdobaria village under Bandar upazila of the district at around 2am on Saturday.
Confirming the matter to Dhaka Tribune, Bandar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Fakhruddin Bhuiyan said: “A case has been filed by the victim’s elder sister.”
Accused Apu, 22, and Rubel, 25, have been on the run since the incident.
The 15-year-old victim broke one of her legs, hands and also sustained injuries on her head after she was pushed off the roof of the building.
The survivor is undergoing treatment at the capital’s National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitations (NITOR).
According to the police and case dockets, the victim on October 14 came to her sister’s place in Bagdobaria village.
Apu, who is a tenant at the same building as the survivor’s elder sister, and Rubel, a local departmental shop owner, had been harassing the 15-year-old girl for quite some time.
At around 2am, on Saturday, the accused knocked on the door of the flat of the girls and grabbed the survivor by the face and took her to the roof, and there tried to rape her.
However, after failing to rape the victim, the duo pushed her off the three-storey building and fled.
Hearing the girl scream, locals rushed to the spot and took her to Madanpur Al Baraka Hospital. Later, the survivor was shifted to Nitor for better treatment.
The OC said: “Hasan Mia, Apu's father, has also been accused in the case for covering up the incident.
“Both the main accused are on the run. Attempts are being made to arrest them,” he added.
