Naogaon district Joint Judge Rezaul Bari, his wife Kaniz Kanta, mother-in-law Khaleda Begum and sister-in-law Shapla Begum stand accused of physically abusing the teenager, said OC Razibur Rahman.
According to the case statement, Shirin Begum went to district Judge Bari’s residence on November 28, when she was told that her daughter Akhi Moni stole Tk300. Meanwhile, Akhi claimed that she didn’t steal anything but family members of the house tortured her.
"My daughter had been working at the house for the last two years,” she said.
"On Saturday, when I went to the house, they said they are firing my daughter on charges of theft. My daughter was physically assaulted. She fell very sick after we brought her back home to Kishorganj (an upazila in Nilphamari)” she also said.
"When locals got to know what happened to my daughter, they informed the matter to Kishorganj police station, who then admitted her to Kishorganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment,” she added.
Meanwhile, Mofizul Haque, OC of Kishorganj police station said: “The incident took place in Rangpur. We have recorded a general diary (GD) over the incident.”
Dr Sabbir Hossain Sarker of the Kishorganj Upazila Health Complex said: "The girl has sustained severe injuries on different parts of her body.
“Moreover, her genitalia has been critically injured. We had to refer her to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for better treatment."
The judge’s wife Kanta dismissed the allegations and maintained that they let the girl go as she had stolen money.
