A train on its way to Sylhet from Chittagong derailed near Shahjibazar station in Habiganj around 12am
Rail communication between Sylhet and other parts of the country has been suspended after four bogies of a freight train carrying oil derailed on Sunday.
The train on its way to Sylhet from Chittagong derailed near Shahjibazar area in Shayestaganj upazila, Habiganj around 12am.
Confirming the matter Shayestaganj Railway Sub Assistant Engineer Saiful Islam said the rail link restoration works will begin after 3pm, when the a train carrying automotive tools reach the spot.
Meanwhile, police tried to disperse locals who were gathered at the spot to collect oil.
Previously in a near similar incident on November 7, rail communication in Sylhet-Dhaka route and Sylhet-Chittagong route remained suspended for 22 hours after seven bogies of an oil-carrying train got off the tracks.
