At least five people have been killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a pickup van on Dhaka-Tangail highway in Tangail Sadar upazila.
The accident took place in the Gharinda area on Tuesday morning.
Identities of the victims could not be known immediately.
Tangail Fire Service and Civil Defence Deputy Director Abdul Jalil said a Dhaka-bound truck laden with vegetables collided with the northern region-bound pickup van that was carrying a printing machine.

Four people, who were travelling on the pickup, were crushed under the printing machine and died on the spot.
Three others injured were rushed to Tangail General Hospital where the on-duty physician declared another person dead, he added.
Earlier on Friday, six people were killed in another road accident at Kurni in Mirzapur upazila.
In the last eight days, 18 people have lost their lives in separate road accidents in the district and more 20 people were injured.
Road accidents claimed at least 25 lives across the country on Monday.
