Police arrest the 10-year-old in connection with the murder
Police on Monday night recovered the body of a four-year-old child reportedly killed by a 10-year-old boy, who wanted to get the smartphone the victim was holding in his hand.
After recovering the child's body from Dargarchala village in Sreepur municipality, police arrested the accused, who during a preliminary interrogation disclosed to police why he had committed the murder.
The victim Sifat Ahmed, son of Abu Bakar, lived with his family in a rented house at Keoa Pashchimkhanda area of Sreepur municipality, confirmed Sreepur police station Officer-in-Charge (Operation) Golam Sarwar.
Sifat's parents began looking for him as the child went missing on Monday morning. Failing to find him they initially filed a general diary at the police station in this regard, police said.Sifat with his father Abu Bakar| Courtesy
Police recovered Sifat’s body nine hours after he went missing.
The accused was a neighbour of Sifat. As he wanted the smartphone Sifat was holding, he took Sifat to Dagarchala where he used the smartphone to repeatedly hit Sifat on the head killing the child on the spot, said police quoting the accused.
