Kurigram's first female SP promises people-friendly police stations

She has also said she will keep the Facebook account of the district police active so that people can seek their help online

Kurigram's first female Superintendent of Police (SP) Syeda Jannat Ara has promised to make the police stations in the district people-friendly. 

She gave this assurance while speaking to reporters on Thursday, two days after she took charge of her post. 

The meeting with reporters began at around 11:30am in the conference room of the Kurigram superintendent of police’s office.

The new superintendent said: "Since people run to the police stations when they get in trouble, I will work to make all the police stations in Kurigram people-friendly. Even if someone cannot file a case at the police station, they can get help from me.”

The SP also assured to keep the Facebook account of the district police active so that the people and media personnel can seek their cooperation using the page. Besides, the newly-appointed officer assured to keep an eye on any case so that no innocent person is unnecessarily harassed.

During the meeting, the Kurigram police took various suggestions from the journalists of the district and sought the cooperation of everyone in various positive activities of the police. 

Addressing reporters, SP Jannat said: “Along with criticizing the faults of the police, appreciate their good work as well."

Additional Superintendent (ASP) of police  (Administration) Md Ruhul Amin, ASP (Sadar Circle) Utpal Kumar Roy, ASP Al Mahmud Hasan, ASP (Headquarters) Kollol Dutta, Kurigram sadar police station Officer-in-Charge Khan Md Shahriar, Kurigram Press Club President advocate Ahsan Habib Neelu, General Secretary Ataur Rahman Biplob and journalists of various electronic, print and online media in the district attended the meeting.

Syeda Jannat Ara is the first ever female SP appointed in the district of Kurigram. The Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) 21st batch officer has earlier worked as an SP in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in the Office of the Additional Inspector General of Police.
