Chittagong mayor-elect vows to fulfil electoral pledges

Rezaul plans to redesign the port city after consultation with people of all classes and professions

Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor-elect Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said he would leave no stone unturned in fulfilling his electoral pledges.

He said this to the media at his residence after winning the just-concluded CCC polls with a large margin on Thursday.

“I want to reassure the city residents that I will try my level best to fulfil my electoral promises. I want to give you my word that I will not involve myself with any illegal and unethical deed. I will not use my power for any illegal act. I will work for the welfare of the people,” said Rezaul.

“I have never stooped to any influence or greed in my life. The new mayoral responsibility will not deviate me,” the mayor-elect said.

 “Being a politician; I had a dream to work for the people, dedicate myself to the people. I express my gratitude to the prime minister as she has given me an opportunity to materialize my dream,” he added.

“I want to redesign the port city. To this end, I will work in consultation with people of all classes and professions. I will gladly accept any realistic and sustainable suggestion from anybody to turn Chittagong into a planned city,” Rezaul added.
