Police arrest wife and her lover over the death of a man nine months ago

Nasir Hawlader, a teacher by profession, died of cardiac arrest in May last year in Barguna and was buried later.

Everything was going normal for the last nine months until audio records from a lost mobile phone revealed the fact.

Nasir's wife Fatima Akter Mitu had been claiming that her husband had a natural death but the audio revealed that she along with her lover Raju Mia masterminded the killing, reports Bangla Tribune.

Nasir was an assistant teacher of Golbunia Shishu-Kishore Government Primary School under Sadar upazila.

On Wednesday night, police arrested Mitu and Raju, a resident of Golbunia village under the upazila, and during primary interrogation, both confessed their involvement in the murder, police said.

Mitu and Raju strangled Nasir to death after he was fed sleeping pills on May 23, they said.

Locals said Raju lost his mobile phone that contained conversations between the duo and the murder plan, from a shop in the district after he went there to charge up its battery.

Later on, relatives of the victim got the audio records and made complaints with Sadar police station.

Md Jalil Hawlader, elder brother of the victim, said Nasir and Fatima were married 10 years ago and they have two children now.

Raju and Mitu developed extramarital affairs two years back and as Nasir found out the matter, he was murdered, he added.

Abul Bashar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Barguna Detective Branch of police, said: "We got 13 audio records in our hands on Wednesday night. Immediately, we raided the Boroitola area in Sadar upazila and apprehended Raju. Later on, we detained Mitu from her house in Thanapara area."

Sadar police station OC Tariqul Islam said a shopkeeper of PotakKhali Bazar got the lost mobile phone that eventually unveiled the fact.

The elder brother of the victim filed a murder case against Mitu and Raju, he added.
