A youth succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) on Sunday, seven days after sustaining bullet wounds.
The youth, identified as Md Habib, 20, was shot during a clash between supporters of two councillor candidates of the Chandanaish municipality polls held in Chittagong on February 14.
The clash broke out on Dakshin Gachbaria Government Primary School premises in Ward 8 of Chandanaish municipality.
Confirming the matter, ASI Alauddin Talukder of CMCH police outpost said a youth had died while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Sunday morning.
Voting of the fourth phase of the municipality polls across Bangladesh took place on February 14, marred with sporadic reports of violence, boycotts, and occupancy of polling centres by Awami League men, according to media reports.
A man was killed in Chittagong and several others were injured in poll-related violence in different districts of the country.
