The murder accused, who had fled the Chittagong Central Jail three days ago, has been arrested in Narsingdi.
Police arrested Farhad Hossain Rubel from Ballakandi Char in Raipur upazila of Narsingdi on Tuesday, confirmed Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shah Md Abdur Rauf of Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
He said: “The fugitive is being brought to Chittagong.”
Farhad Hossain Rubel went missing from the Karnaphuli Ward of Chittagong Central Jail at 5:15am on Saturday.
CCTV footages from around the jail show Rubel jumping over the prison walls from the roof of an under-construction building, said Md Sagir Mia, Deputy Inspector General (Prisons) of Khulna Range.
“We are investigating the matter if anyone helped him escape,” said the official.
A three-member committee, led by DIG prisons (Khulna division) Md Sagir Mia, was formed to investigate the incident.

Sadarghat police arrested Farhad from Mistri Para of Double Mooring police station for his alleged involvement in stabbing a man to death on February 6. He had been sent to Chittagong Central Jail on February 9.
