Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained a bus driver and his assistant for pushing off a speech-impaired woman from a moving bus in Dhaka's Keraniganj area.
Md Sabuj, 25, driver of N Mullick Paribahan, and his assistant Md Nahid, 19, were apprehended during a raid in the South Keraniganj area around 2am on Tuesday, Major Shahrier Ziaur of RAB 10 told an English daily.
The battalion members also seized the bus.
Details about the drive will be revealed at a press briefing later on the day.
The woman was pushed off the running bus at Rohitpur on Sunday morning as she failed to pay the fare.
A video of the incident that went viral on social media shows the woman in a burqa being pushed off a bus of N Mullick Paribahan. Later, local people rescued her.
When asked, the woman told them by writing that she did not have the fare, and the same bus service did not take fare from her previously.
On the day, they pushed her off as she could not pay the fare.
The battalion members also seized the bus.
